So you want to video pitch, do you?
There are numerous video-pitch software solutions out there. When considering which to use, our most important consideration is Fitness for Purpose. (If you’re reading this and we’ve worked together before, you’ll know what I mean when I say I put a ton of thought into this kind of stuff!)
The answer to What I Use in my day-to-day for video pitching?
Loom
But that doesn’t mean Loom is the end-all-and-be-all. Some of my team members prefer to use Jumpshare. Overall, here’s what I was looking for in a video pitch solution, and why Loom won:
- Fast: Outside of video pitches, I blast out a number of videos in my day-to-day. I need to be able to record video responses to emails without having to edit anything, no fiddling with settings every time I do a video, and just have it work. My personal objective is to keep conversations moving further and faster - and a rough rule is that if the email is over 2 paragraphs, a video is typically a much better & faster format to use.
- Easy to use: It can’t slow me down. Controls need to be intuitive, and hotkeyed. Automatic copying of the video link after I’ve finished recording really helps.
- Integrated: This is what puts Loom over the top for me. If your email client is Gmail, the Loom Chrome Extension is killer. Automatic import of a video preview GIF, in Gmail, when you send your video pitch. I can’t guarantee it displays on every recipient’s email client, but where it does, it’s dynamite. Super clickbaity. LOVE IT. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
- Trackable: It’s very helpful to know when someone has watched a Loom video I sent them. It’s better than a Read Receipt (who does that these days anyway?).
Loom vs. Jumpshare
A look at Jumpshare’s comparison of Loom vs. Jumpshare is pretty clear: Jumpshare has tons of features. Features I am sure I would love.
So, why am I using Loom and not Jumpshare, even when my COO himself prefers Jumpshare? Because the Gmail video GIF previews are incredible in terms of conversion, where every inch counts.
All that said, I’m not married to Loom. There are some things I wish they’d do. My philosophy is, always use what’s best for you. Maybe someone at Jumpshare reads this and comes out with their own killer feature that just puts it way over the top of Loom for me.
But my focus is, and probably will for a long time remain…
MAXIMUM CONVERSION.
So for me, it's Loom.
